The scientists studying quantum mechanics have it backwards ~ instead of studying the manifestations of quantum mechanics in order to understand the ultimate nature of reality, one should first understand the ultimate nature of reality, and then the manifestations of quantum mechanics will be clear and simple.

     The ultimate problem of philosophy is “Why is there any universe here at all, instead of simply nothing ?”  Any way you try to account for the presence of this universe, all arguments are either circular or unresolved.  No one has an answer; not Philosophy, not Theology, not Science.  Science will tell you how the universe evolved from the Big Bang, but the Big Bang itself ?  “The Scientist does not speculate beyond the data.”  The Theologian’s arguments are all circular ~ “I Am that I Am.”  And, as for Philosophy, the solution may have been understood two thousand five hundred years ago by Heraclitus, in Ancient Greece, but no one seems to have understood it since.  

     Heraclitus says that nothing can exist by itself.  In order for anything to exist, it’s opposite has to exist also.  It is straight out of the first chapter of the Tao Te Ching ~

          The way that can be spoken of is not the constant way;
          the name that can be named is not the constant name.
          The nameless was the beginning of Heaven and Earth;
          the named was the mother of the myriad creatures.
          Hence always rid yourself of desires in order to observe its secrets,
          but always allow yourself to have desires in order to observe its manifestations.
          These two are the same, but diverge in Name as they issue forth.
          Being the same, they are called Mysteries.
          Mystery upon Mystery, the gateway of the manifold secrets.

     Sic Mundus creatus est (Hermes, Emerald Tablet).  

     This is how you create a Universe ex nihilo ~ you start with Nothing, then separate it into Two Opposite Ideas that, put together, would be equal again to Nothing.  Name them Yang and Yin, and you have the Mother of the myriad creatures.  

     So the scientists who are puzzling over the manifestations of quantum mechanics should just understand that that is just exactly the way it is, with quantum pairs randomly popping in and out of existence, and expressing equal and opposite manifestations with each other as long as they remain in existence, without regard to space or time.  This is the fundamental nature of reality.  One clue is that the two particles are not exactly identical; they are like mirror images of each other.  

     In terms of metaphysics, we see expressed the First and Second Arcana, but the Third Arcanum can also be seen as the point of change which hinges the two halves of an existum together.
